One strong belief that motivated prof. Julius, was that all humanity depends on agriculture for food, fuel, fiber and feed and that, this union gracefully and inevitably transcends boarders of race, gender, age, creed, and social strata. To prof. Julius, ecological organic agriculture was a climate smart form of Agriculture, and a holistic way of life; a livelihood, where Mother Nature harmoniously works with “acceptable scientific innovations’’ to provide for her off springs. His passion to champion ecological organic agriculture gave a well-blended interplay between local priorities and specific world-class interventions that intend to spur further research to mitigate a myriad of problems that deter a healthy living and sustainable development in many developing countries.

He has been a pillar in the leadership of, and beacon of hope for agro ecology and ecological organic agriculture research in Africa and beyond. Julius has been a member of the Uganda national steering committee and co-chair to the chair of the Ecological Organic Agriculture-Initiative, senior researcher and Principal Investigator – Ecological organic Agriculture, Flying food innovations, and (ACALISE) – World Bank Center of Excellence in Agro ecology and Livelihood Systems (ACEII) project.
