ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project is being implemented in Western Kenya (Busia and Bungoma Counties). The direct beneficiaries are smallholder farmers in the region who are members of organized groups and are farming ecologically. The small holder farmers selected are the ones who have been trained previously on agro-ecological methods by PELUM Kenya Member Organisations (MO) and Biovision Africa Trust. The project will focus on four farmer groups including one women and one youth group.

PROJECT GOAL

Improved sustainable farming practices of smallholder farms in Western Kenya through enhanced integration of agroforestry practices by 2019

OUTCOMES

1. Increased knowledge and practical skills on agroforestry establishment and management by the target beneficiaries.
2. Agroforestry trees integrated in farmlands in the 2 participating counties of Bungoma and Busia.
3. Increased sensitisation among the communities in the participating communities (Busia and Bungoma) on the value of agroforestry practices and products.
4. Strengthened community groups in agroforestry management.
5. A successfully implemented agroforestry project (70% level of achievement) in the 2 counties.
